Remediation Strategy
Bioremediation
This project involved the assessment and proposed remediation of a legacy petroleum release at the former Barfield Exxon in Lineville, Alabama. The site history identified an underground storage tank that had been vandalized and filled with water, with documented impacts related to benzene, BTEX, naphthalene, and groundwater contamination across the former fuel station area. The proposed approach focused on using existing treatment wells positioned throughout the contamination plume to apply an M-1000H treatment program, supported by groundwater mapping, plume delineation, and a metered injection strategy designed to address both soil and groundwater impacts over time. The plan also accounted for seasonal groundwater movement, lateral contaminant drift, and a vertical smear zone caused by fluctuating groundwater levels.
